Beall Bros Maltese Cross | BEALL BROS. MALTESE CROSS - Tin drivers lamp, 3 1/4 in. tall, rear lid hinge at hook, marked BEALL BROS. TRADE MARK ALTON, ILLS. and Maltese cross in oval football shape on font, ex-Chuck Young and ex-Tony Moon collections (In 1872, Edmond Beall joined with his brother Charles to start a small firm in Alton, IL named Beall Brothers to manufacture mining tools. With continued expansion of the company, Beall Brothers MiningTool Company was incorporated in 1900 with Charles Beall as president. In 1904, following continued business expansion, Charles Beall started his own company C. L. Beall Manufacturing Co. in East Alton producing a variety of tools. The next year, all the Beall interests were consolidated into Beall Bros. Inc. This company was sold in 1917 but the Beall brothers continued to start and consolidate companies that continued to manufacture shovels, mining and railroad tools, and automobile accessories.
